The Weight Management Evaluation begins with an initial medical consultation to review your health and weight history. Follow up visits are scheduled monthly, thereafter. When maintenance weight or goals are achieved, follow up visits can be scheduled for longer intervals.

Evaluation

Initial Visit (50 minutes):

  • Review of medical and symptom history.
  • Focused physical examination.
  • Body composition measurements using Bioelectric Impedance Analysis.
  • Possible lab tests, including hormone, vitamin, and nutrition testing (based on individual risk assessments).
  • Patients with heart disease may need a 12-lead EKG. If you have recent lab results or an EKG, bring them along.
  • Take-home initial treatment plan.


Follow-Up Visits (25 minutes):

  • Re-assessment of body composition.
  • Review of weight and fat loss progress.
  • Adjustments to the treatment plan if needed

  • Recommendations begin at the first visit and are adjusted over time based on progress and medical issues.

  • Do I need a doctor’s referral?

    If you are a New Mexico State employee covered with either Lovelace or Presbyterian, no referral is needed.


    For all others, we have had success with patients who do not have naprapathy as a listed benefit in their plans using a written prescription or referral from the patient’s primary care physician. While no coverage is guaranteed with a written prescription or referral, our office will work with you, your primary care doctor and your insurance company to get you covered if at all possible.
